iPhone Wish #3: Remote Kill
No, not the kill switch that disables apps.
I want something that is able to render my phone useless when some asshole steals it. Rather than be nasty at first, let’s give him a chance:
- Perhaps I could send a SMS to my iPhone with the secret code “DISPLAY WARNING”
- The phone to locks permanently and displays a message, like “Dude, you’re holding my toy. Please call me to arrange for its safe return. I’ll pay for your next spa treatment, promise.”
- Below the message is a big “Call Owner” button which rings a pre-programmed phone number
- All other features are not available
- All phone calls are routed to voice mail
- No SMS and other pop ups displayed
If the person ignores me, I’ll send “DIE DIE DIE” and the phone will display the picture of a middle finger, and start wiping itself. After which I can get my telco to disable the SIM card.
Better still, I want to be able to send “POOF NOW” so that the phone’s lithium ion battery explodes and burns the nether regions of the person who refuses to return my phone. How evil!
